Defining the Relations Between Blogs, E-zines, RSS and E-mail (Business Models)
I think what Lockergnome has to say in the above article is worth remembering as the methods of e-communication continue to proliferate. One other form of e-communication not mentioned here is wikis. I have a little experience with wikis and haven’t quite decided on their usefulness for what I want to accomplish. I think they are good for group editing of a report or other document, for example. There are few things as irritating to me as having a group develop a report and email it back and forth as a Word document with everyone’s edits.
At my suggestion, a task force I’m on in the PALNI consortium has set up a wiki for this purpose. I think its success is a bit mixed at this point, but it has been interesting to work with a wiki as part of the task force’s communications process.
