Revamped site

This past weekend I messed up my entire site (my fault) while trying to upgrade WordPress to the latest release. So in the spirit of making lemonade out of lemons, I decided to revamp the whole thing and bring in the New Year with a different look and feel. The biggest change is a new theme that is much easier to manage and, more importantly, much easier to read. Some other things that I added or changed: there is now a photo of me on the site; I switched to a better method of email delivery for blog postings for those who prefer to get updates that way instead of via RSS; I moved the Meebo Me widget to a more prominent place; I added a Funny Videos section that pulls selected videos from Google Video or YouTube; and I implemented an improved way to browse previous posts.

So far, people seem to like it (thanks to those who’ve written to let me know)!

Wii…I like it!

Those who know me well know that I really, really dislike video games. That’s unfortunate especially for my son Keegan, whose world seems to revolve around them most days. As a combination Christmas and birthday present, he got a Wii from his uncle Bryan. He is pretty thrilled.

The other night I played it for the first time and — shocker — I actually liked it! This may change my outlook on video games altogether (Keegan hopes so). We’ll see. Anyway, Wii gets two thumbs up.

Fall of the axe

I haven’t written much for a long time. I don’t feel the need to apologize or explain, really, but I do want to make it clear that I am not abandoning this blog!

The main thing I wanted to note down here is anxiety on my part for friends who are losing their jobs at Endeavor (now merged with Ex Libris). I know that today some of them are feeling the fall of the axe. This is what I thought would happen but hoped it wouldn’t come to pass. I don’t know much more than that — just that some were notified today that they no longer had a job as a result of the merger with Ex Libris.
