		<description>I remember how hard it was to deliver newspapers during that time.  Another thing I remember is that our entire backyard was covered so deep in snow that we were able to dig a whole series of snow tunnels throughout.  I have a picture somewhere of a drift like the one you mention that blocked the road in front of our house for days.</description>

		<description>Steve, I agree--winters used to be worse.  I went in the Army in Feb 1978 and I remember that one and the ones preceding it quite well.  In late 77, it took over 4 days for the massive snowplows to get our suburban street plowed, and then we had a 12&#039; plow and wind-packed &quot;drift&quot; to dig through at the end of our driveway.

I missed the winter of 79-80 being in Germany but got plenty of pictures and stories of it from the folks back home.</description>
