Another day of gray

It is another day of gray here in northern Illinois. I didn’t have a lot of good sleep in the wee hours of the night thanks to Brinley’s restlessness. At least I was able to catch the earlier train to work, so that’s a positive.

The recent election results here in the U.S. have contributed to a deep funk. My attitude and thinking have been mostly negative and as a result I haven’t been a great person to be around, virtually (e.g. on Facebook) or in person. I have even managed to offend others, which is never ok.

I think I invested way too much in the recent election and I’ve come to the conclusion that it was a waste of time and energy.

Remember Grandma's saying, “Gray November days are here–melancholy weather.”

I've found a bit of relief (re: the election) in Hebrews 12:28-29:

Therefore let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and thus let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe, for our God is a consuming fire.

Know that there are many of us that are working this through … but the Kingdom cannot be shaken!

Steve, I don't know if relatively uninformed comments from a Canadian can do anything to rescue from what you call a “deep funk” over the results of the recent American election … but many of us here in Canada and around the world consider the USA to be absolutely blessed in the results of your recent election. Is there anyone apart from Dick Cheney's stockbroker who thinks that the last 8 years under the incompetent and warmongering administration have benefited anyone? And was there anyone who was not worried about McCain continuing those policies — or perhaps his health faltering, and President Palin taking over (I have trouble even writing those words)? Things are going to be better …
